OUR OPERATIONS TEAM
ONN & VEED
As an example of providing education to the community, through an scholarship-intern program, we have two local girls on staff at the volunteer house. We pay for their education, and give them an outlet to improve and perfect their English skills by working with the volunteers. In time, we hope that they will become full-time FruitFriends staff.
Ket is FruitFriends' director, an unpaid position. Born and raised in Vang Vieng, Laos, Ket personally experienced difficult access to quality education, thus instilling the need for education for the current community.
Originally from Belgium, Ward volunteered for three years on different education projects in Laos. During his time he initiated and fundraised the money for three new classrooms in a local school. He additionally organized the construction of a preparation school for ethnic groups in a diverse village.
He was also the co-founder of EEFA, which provides free English classes for children and teenagers from three villages. Ward is in the possession of a certificate in “Community-Based Development” and speaks Lao fluently. Ward plays an advisory role as the unpaid General Coordinator, working remotely with our local team and international partners.
